2011 Great Pumpkin & Scarecrow Festival Friday, Sept. 30th and Saturday, Oct. 1st.

The 2011 Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that the festival is registered as a National Cultural Days event!

NEW IN 2011 . . . Neighbourhood Challenge. Get a group of people together in your neighbourhood and come up with display ideas and decorate your neighbourhood before 6:00 pm on Friday, Sept. 30th. A panel of celebrity judges will tour Lumsden and determine a winner.  Points will be awarded for - creativity, incorporation of challenge and number of scarecrows. The neighbourhood with the best display will win a $300 gift certificate from Jerky Boys Meats to put toward a block party. Individual scarecrow displays will be determined by People's Choice as in years past, the prize is $100.

MAHONE BAY CHALLENGE . . . our festival was loosely based on a similar festival organized in Mahone Bay, NS.  Their 2011 theme is centred on the Royal Wedding.  On behalf of the 2011 Organizing Committee, our Mayor, Bryan Matheson, has issued a challenge to Mahone Bay to build a better Royal Wedding display.  In lieu of a theme, we are encouraging local businesses, individuals and/or neighbourhoods to embrace this challenge.  See our Schedule Tab for a complete list of activities and see our Sponsors & Vendors Tab for Harvest Market vendors.
